The Role
We are seeking a high-energy, strategically-minded Business Development Specialist with a deep passion for the entrepreneurship ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships with international entities, and supporting the scaling of SMEs. You will be the face of Mentors’, driving our mission to foster economic prosperity through personalized business aids and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and secure partnerships with incubators, accelerators, government bodies, and academic institutions to expand the Mentors’ community.
- SME Growth Consulting: Apply our “Learn, Establish, Grow” methodology to identify prospective SME clients and tailor business aid packages to their specific scaling needs.
- Market Expansion: Support our regional growth (MEA and Europe) by researching market trends and establishing local footprints in new territories (similar to our recent expansion in Zambia).
- Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with our Advisory Board, honorary members, and global network of mentors to ensure high-value delivery to our clients.
- Revenue Generation: Develop and execute sales strategies for our consultancy services, educational programs, and community memberships.
- Bridging Research & Business: Facilitate connections between academic research and practical business implementation, helping startups translate innovation into market-ready products.
Requirements
- Experience: 3–4 years of proven experience in Business Development, specifically within the Startup/Entrepreneurship ecosystem, Venture Capital, or SME Consultancy.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, International Trade, or a related field.
- Languages: * Arabic: Native/Bilingual proficiency (Essential for MEA operations).
- English: Professional/Full proficiency (Essential for global coordination).
- French: Professional working proficiency is a major plus (for North/West Africa expansion).
- Track Record: Demonstrated success in meeting growth targets, closing B2B deals, or launching entrepreneurial initiatives.
- Skills: Exceptional negotiation, public speaking, and relationship-building skills. A deep understanding of “wicked problems” in developing economies is highly valued.
