We’re seeking a seasoned Legal or Policy Expert to diagnose regulatory bottlenecks and design reform pathways for African digital ecosystems.
The Challenge Startups often face outdated regulations that stifle growth. You will be responsible for dissecting national legal frameworks (taxation, IP, registration, data policy) and translating legal gaps into actionable roadmaps for government reform.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the country-specific analysis of legal, regulatory, and institutional frameworks affecting entrepreneurship
- Conduct “Gap Analyses” on Startup Acts, digital strategies, and fiscal policies in target countries
- Translate complex regulatory findings into practical, implementable policy recommendations
- Draft “Tailored Support Pathway” reports, defining technical assistance needs for governments
- Engage with national regulators and policymakers to validate findings and recommendations
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in regulatory analysis, policy reform, or public sector advisory
- Advanced degree in Law, Public Policy, or Economics
- Experience conducting national-level policy assessments in Sub-Saharan Africa (East, West, or Southern Africa)
- Deep knowledge of business registration, licensing, taxation, and competition laws relevant to startups
- Ability to write clear, actionable policy roadmaps for government stakeholders
